Solar farm thermal panel survey overview

Thermal Solar Farm & Panel Surveys

Solar Farms

Photovolataic imaging surveys in accordance with BS EN 62446

Thermal drone technology allows quick, cost effective detection of faults, damage and debris to maximise your energy production. Early detection of faults can help prevent complete panel failure.

Environmental Drone Services Ltd hold Category 2 electrical thermography; C&G Lvl 3 BS 7671:2018: Requirements for electrical installations; Lvl 3 In-service Inspection and testing of electrical equipment. We offer thermal inspections of panels, inverters, transformers and wiring. Typical errors we find include:

❖ Surface damage, debris & dirt               ❖ Substring errors
❖ Electrical faults                                        ❖ Hotspots
❖ Cell errors

Mission Planning

Environmental Drone Services Ltd conduct our thermal solar farm and solar panel surveys using mission planning software, ensuring we capture all the data. We use overlap to ensure each part of a panel is imaged from multiple angle, so artifacts like solar glare can be discounted.

Commercial Building Solar panels

Commercial solar panel inspections are conduced by our CAA approved pilots in accordance with BS EN 62446. Images are assessed by a Cat 2 thermographer. For buildings where drone survey is impractical, panels can be hand imaged, using a thermal camera.

Environmental Drone Services Ltd can inspect your roof panels for signs of soiling, damage and faults. Faulty or over heated panels and hotspots can pose a fire risk to the building, while soiling costs you money from reduced power generation and increased draw from the national grid. We can rapidly highlight areas of concern, helping you maximise your energy production safely. We can also image inverters, transformers and electrical connections.
